Wednesday September 2, 2026 MALLACOOTA (and overnight by choice)
Meet at 9:15 am in the Genoa Picnic Area on Princes Highway just before crossing the large bridge to Genoa. Allow 45 minutes from Eden. After checking this area the group will proceed to Mallacoota with the STW lined up, then Betka Walk and other spots familiar to David. Several members plan to stay overnight with more walks on Thursday. Why not join them? Phone David with questions if needed.

Saturday September 12, 2026 UMBI GUMBI at CUTTAGEE
Meet at 9:15 am at the south end of Cuttagee Beach. Follow the Tathra-Bermagui Rd passing through Barraga Bay until you see the long sandy Cuttagee Beach. Pull over (carefully) to the right and assemble for directions to Umbi Gumbi, a private property a few minutes further on. Bring provisions as usual.

Sunday September 27, 2026 NUMBUGGA circuit
Meet at 9:00 am on the corner of Snowy Mountains Highway and Wents Road. From Bega go north on the Princes Highway and take the Cooma turn off, drive 15 km west to reach Wents Road on your right. If coming from Bemboka it is 5 km east of Morans Crossing on your left. We will visit sites along Numbugga Creek and return to Bega via Walls Flat Road. Always a super bird list from this morning. Bring a chair.

Thursday October 8, 2026 EVENING MEETING
Meet for a 7:30 pm start in the Uniting Church Hall, Henwood St, Merimbula. Guest Speaker will be Matthew (Matt) Herring of Australasian Bittern fame. Matt will talk about tracking to inform targeted wetland management and conservation of the Australasian Painted-snipe and Australasian Bittern
Saturday October 10, 2026 ‘WATERY FOWLS’ in Spring
Meet at 8:45 am inside the gate of ‘Watery Fowls’. Turn off Sapphire Coast Drive onto Bournda Road, as if going to Hobart Beach or Bournda Lagoon, on the south side of Wallagoot Lake. Drive about 500m to just before Tickalara Close and turn left into the almost hidden driveway to the home of Cliff and Sayaka Wallis. This is an additional visit to find the spring birds.

Wednesday October 21, 2026 PANBOOLA SURVEY
Meet at 8:00 am at the Panboola Centre, Watsons Waterhole, next to the Idlewilde Motel, Bullara St, Pambula for the spring survey. Sturdy shoes, hat, snack and insect repellent advised.

Thursday October 22, 2026> BOURNDA EEC ANNUAL OLYMPICS
Bournda Environmental Education Centre organise this annual event, held at Potoroo Palace for local Primary school students. The bird calls component of the day is a feature and usually covered by ABC so watch out and listen to the skills of these youngsters. Each participant receives a copy of “Looking at Birds on the Far South Coast” donated by FSCB.
Sunday October 25, 2026 KALARU, BLACKFELLOWS LAKE private property
Meet at 9:00 am at the end of Blackfellows Lake Rd, which leads off the Bega-Tathra Rd just east of Kalaru Village. Follow this road, swinging left when you see water and then wind around passing houses on the right to the very end and across the grid. Lunch at cars. Bring chair and all you need. No facilities, plenty of trees.

Saturday November 14, 2026 WAJURDA POINT and NELSON LAGOON
Meet at 9:15 am on the north side of the bridge at Mogareeka. Check here for birds (regularly Nankeen Night-Herons) then proceed north to the Nelson Lagoon turn off with a walk to Wajurda Point on the way, then on to Nelson Lagoon, with updated car parking.
Driving from Bermagui watch out for the left hand turn when nearly down to Mogareeka.

Meet at 9:15 am for a 9:30 am start in the Panboola Centre, next to Idlewilde Motel, Bullara St, Pambula.
Sunday November 22, 2026 GREEN CAPE and environs
Meet at 9:00 am on the corner of Princes Highway and Edrom Rd (Chipmill Rd), 15 minutes south of Eden. We’ll take in Bull Creek, Pulpit Rock and highlights around Green Cape. Bring chair, lunch etc, no shops anywhere!
Thursday 10 December, 2026 ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING and MEMBER SLIDES
Meet in the Uniting Church Hall, Henwood St, Merimbula for a 7:30 pm start. Following the brief AGM enjoy a screen presentation from your fellow members and a relaxed evening. Members are asked to bring a small plate of festive food for the supper table.
Saturday 12 December, 2026 TRADITIONAL LAST DAY AT BROGO DAM
Meet at 9:15 am at the Brogo Fire Shed, about 1 km along Warrigal Range Rd. (About 20 km north of Bega turn left on to Warrigal Range Rd, the Brogo Dam Road.) Assemble at Fire Shed, and car pool if desired. A slow drive from here with a few stops then we’ll go to the top car park at the Dam, on the left beyond the manager’s cottage. Bring all you need for a good day of birds and friendship.
