Wednesday January 16, 2019                             PANBOOLA SURVEY
Meet at 7:30 am at the Panboola Centre, next to Idlewilde Motel in Bullara St, Pambula for the summer survey. Wear sturdy shoes. Carry snack and drink, hat and insect repellent. Takes about 3 hours.
55 species recorded (including Swamp Harrier, Azure Kingfisher and Gang-gang Cockatoo)

Sunday January 27, 2019                                     MANDENI to start the year with walk and BBQ
Birdwatchers and walkers meet at the Mandeni Golf Centre at 4:00 pm for a walk. Non-walkers please arrive around 5:00 pm to share a BYO BBQ or picnic tea as a get-together after the holiday season. New members especially welcome.

Saturday February 9, 2019                                  GOODENIA RAINFOREST
If travelling from the coast assemble behind the Tea Tree Roadhouse, Mt Darragh Rd, Sth Pambula at 8:30 am so we can reduce the car numbers. Otherwise proceed independently to Goodenia Rainforest car park by 9:15 am. Chalkhills Rd, Lochiel leaves the Mt Darragh Rd 10 km from Sth Pambula. Turn here and travel carefully, can be rough, for about 8 km. The rainforest is often slippery after rain, but there are good areas to explore without going down into the depths. Lunch there, with tables and BBQ available.

Thursday February 14, 2019                                EVENING MEETING
Meet in the Uniting Church Hall, Henwood St, Merimbula, for a 7:30 pm start. This will be another ‘February Feathered Friends Fun’ night. Something for everyone. Find out what you know and what you don’t know and have some fun.

Sunday February 24, 2019                                    BERMAGUI
Meet just north of the Bermagui Bridge, on the corner beside the Bermagui – Narooma Rd, opposite the group of small shops at 8:45 am. Bush and waterbirds in a variety of spots with lunch in the park opposite the Country Club.

Saturday March 9, 2019                                        GREEN CAPE
Meet at 9:00 am on the corner of Princes Highway and Edrom Rd (Chipmill Rd), 15 minutes south of Eden. We’ll take in Bull Creek, highlights around Green Cape and maybe Saltwater Creek. Bring lunch, chair etc, no shops anywhere!

Wednesday March 13, 2019                                MUMBULLA CREEK FALLS / BIAMANGA C.A.
Mumbulla Creek Falls is now called Biamanga Cultural Area. Situated within the Biamanga National Park it was handed back to the traditional Aboriginal owners in 2006 and leased back to the government in 2014. At that time access arrangements changed. Download a map of the Biamanga Cultural Area for current access details. At Tanja, take the turn on to Dr George Mountain which would eventually reach Bega. Then take the right-hand turn into Mumbulla Falls Rd/Biamanga. Pass Mumbulla Trig Rd on your left and finally wind down 1 km to a picnic area. Initially meet at the corner of Tathra – Bermagui Rd and Dr George Mtn Rd at 9:00 am or find your own way, especially if driving from the Tarraganda/Bega side. Destination is 18 kms from Tanja Corner on dirt road.

Sunday March 24, 2019                                        BOURNDA N.P. – BONDI LAKE/HOBART BEACH
Meet at 8:45 in the Visitor Carpark at Hobart Beach. Access this from Sapphire Coast Drive, turning on to Hobart Beach Rd and following signs. Carry snack and drink please and we’ll lunch back at cars. Insect repellent advisable.

Wed March 27 – Sat March 30, 2019                    CORRYONG CAMPOUT
Visiting west of the Snowy Mountains, the upper Murray River and near Khancoban. Come for one or four days.

Thursday April 11, 2019                                        EVENING MEETING
Meet in the Uniting Church Hall, Henwood St, Merimbula, for a 7:30 pm start. Guest for the Evening will be Sarah Pizzey, the daughter of Graham Pizzey, who will chat with us about growing up with birds, including a bit about the making of the Field Guide, which included several trips around the country. This should be an interesting meeting.

Saturday April 13, 2019                                          ‘WATERY FOWLS’ WALLAGOOT/BOURNDA
Meet at 8:45 am inside the gate of ‘Watery Fowls’. Turn off Sapphire Coast Drive onto Bournda Road, as if going to Hobart Beach or Bournda Lagoon, on the south side of Wallagoot Lake. Drive about 500m to just before Tickalara Close and turn left into the almost hidden driveway to the home of Cliff and Sayaka Wallis. BYO snack and lunch and chair as usual, plus insect repellent. Always a good species count here. Flat walking. (Fixed 2nd Sat in April event.)
